Do you need a college degree to be a farmer? Of course not, but is it beneficial to have one? Read this article to find out more.
I have been asked, “Is a college degree worth it?” several times over the last nine months while conducting young and beginning farmer/rancher conferences for Farm Bureau and Farm Credit. A common follow-up question to this one is, “Is a degree in agriculture still relevant?”
My answer is based upon my 25 years in academia and working with both the business and agricultural industries. First, a college degree is still useful and is worth it in the long run.
