
Social media has really taken the world of agriculture by storm in 2009. The ag community on Twitter has blossomed substantially and there were some standouts that Fastline has named our Top 10 Ag Twitter Users of 2009:
1. @mpaynknoper- Michele Payn-Knoper: There aren’t enough words to say what Michele has done for ag in the past year. A few highlights- #Agchat founder, Mashable Twitter User of the Year Nominee, a Certified Professional Speaker, and agriculture advocate. You can visit Michele’s blog to learn more about how she is a champion for agriculture.
2. @jplovescotton- Janice Person: Janice works in Monsanto’s PR department, but she tweets about all things ag related. In the past year, she has played an integral role in getting out the vote for Michele for Twitter User of the Year and the #thankafarmer movement. Check out Janice’s blog here.
3. @gilmerdairy- Will Gilmer: A dairy farmer from the heart of Alabama that has used Twitter to allow us all to see what life is like on his family owned dairy farm. Best known for being the Singing Dairy Farmer and his MooTube Minutes. Check out Will’s blog and see all the ways he is using social media.
4. @raylindairy- Ray Prock Jr.: Another dairyman makes our top ten list. Ray is a dairy farmer from California who has been very active on Twitter this past year. Ray has founded Farm2U, which focuses on helping people learn more about where their food comes from. Check out Ray’s blog here.
5. @tykerman1- Steve Tucker: Steve became a celebrity of sorts in the ag community this year, as he was featured on CNN. As Steve became more connected, the social media community was able to follow the ups and downs on his farm in Nebraska.
