At first glance you may think this is just another front cover of Fastline… but it is so much more. Read this young man’s inspiring story about battling cancer and how tractors helped him get through the struggle of chemo treatments.

The 1070 Case was purchased by Zack Jones in September 2010. Zack was 14 at the time and was battling cancer at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Being stuck in a hospital bed was hard for this farm boy to handle so to help pass time he would look online at tractors. When he and his father, Jon came across the 1070 in an ad they called about it and purchased it that week. Zack couldn’t wait to get home after chemo treatments to go take his tractor for a drive. The tractor needed some work done so they called on Zack’s great-uncle, Tom Jones, to see if he could repair what needed fixed. A year and a half later the tractor was totally restored complete with new tires purchased by Zack’s grandparents, Jon and Pauline Jones. The last details were finished the night before the local prom just in time for Zack to drive it and his prom date, Jana Fenstamaker, through the promenade. It maybe just an old tractor with a new paint job to some but to Zack it was much more than that!!

Fastline salutes Zack and all others battling cancer. This disease is truly horrible and has touched all of us in some way. Fastline is a proud supporter of The American Cancer Society in the hopes that one day we will find a cure for cancer. Thanks so much to Zack and his family for sharing this amazing story with us.

With plans to cover 10 states with almost 30 in-field events, Case IH has hosted the Steiger Tiger Tour throughout corn country this fall. The series of events were designed to connect customers and dealers as Case IH equipment is demonstrated in their local conditions.

“Through the course of a year, we’ll have customers say that they want to see our equipment run, and this event gives them that chance,” says Troy Price, store manager Titan Machinery, Grundy Center, who hosted one of the tour stops. “In this format, the dealership doesn’t have to haul equipment back and forth, and the customer only has to commit an hour of their time.”
For the day, he committed his four salesmen to being on site, and the rest of the event’s team were experts and representatives from Case IH. Price says the Steiger Tiger tour was an efficient way and targeted way to reach out to many customers in a short amount of time.
“We can accomplish more of our goals with this ‘rifle approach’ than the ‘shot gun approach’.”
Highlighting the field day is the Steiger 600 with 670 peak horsepower and the 13-shank, 26’ wide Ecolo-Tiger 870 disk ripper.“We began in mid-June in Kentucky,” explains Rob Zemenchik, North American sales and marketing manager, Case IH Tillage. “We wanted customers to be able to see the equipment working in their environment. By the end of the tour we hope to have reached 1,000 customers.”
As part of the program, Zemenchik presented on how the Ecolo-Tiger performs in the soil profile with a soil pit dug for illustration. He adds that in designing the Ecolo-Tiger 870, farmers asked for machine that left the field level and could manage tough residue while still providing flow through the machine.

case ih magnum web

For the new Magnum and Steiger series tractors, Case IH is building upon its customers’ expectations for power and performance while meeting stricter government regulations on engine emissions.

Both series are powered by Fiat Powertrain Technologies engines with the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system. All Case IH equipment greater than 100 hp will use the SCR system to meet interim Tier 4 standards that take effect January 2011. All Magnum and Steiger models are equipped with Diesel Saver Automatic Productivity Management, which selects the most fuel-efficient gear ratio and engine speed combination.

The nine Magnum series models range from 150 PTO hp to 280 PTO hp. The 180, 190, 210 and 225 tractors are powered by 6.7-liter engines, and the 235, 260, 290, 315 and 340 are powered by 8.7-liter engines featuring up to 14% power growth and Power Boost for mobile PTO and hydraulic applications. Paired with the increased power is a redesigned cooling package that separates three of the four cooling units for less demand on the tractor. The 19F/4R full powershift standard transmission has a 19th economy gear. Transmission options include a 30-mph top-speed package, 18F/4R full powershift transmission and a 23F/4R creeper transmission.
