Your FFA chapter can be recognized by simply clicking on the link above and entering your information. If you’re not currently a part of an FFA chapter, please send this information along to your local chapter adviser.

The head of the USDA Rural Development Office says the work they’re doing is having a positive impact on Rural America. Undersecretary Dallas Tonsager says the 2011 Rural Development Fiscal Year 2011 Annual Report shows they have invested almost $29 Billion dollars and “created or saved an estimated 440-thousand” jobs through the rural business cooperative, utilities and housing programs…

“Provided housing opportunities for over 143,000 families, upgraded community facilities across the country, supported improvements to the national electric grid, funded renewable energy projects, expanded access to affordable, high-quality internet service for rural residents throughout the Community Connect and other broadband programs.”

Tonsager says they were able to spur much of that growth without taxpayer dollars…

“Roughly 63% of our fiscal year 2011 investments served to increase access to capital for rural businesses, communities and homebuyers without a direct cost to the federal government.”

The 83rd National FFA Convention concluded on a high note; the organization set an all-time event attendance record with a total crowd of 54,942 members, advisors, sponsors and guests.

And, the organization recognized the service of and bid farewell to its long-time national FFA advisor, Dr. Larry D. Case, who will retire on Jan. 1, 2011.

“It’s only fitting that we should set our all-time convention attendance record at Dr. Case’s 26th and final convention,” said National FFA Chief Operating Officer Dwight Armstrong. “It’s clear that a substantial number of chapters around the country made the trip to celebrate with him before he retires.”
During his onstage recognition, Case introduced his wife of 44 years, Joy, and their children and grandchildren.  He addressed the crowd of FFA members and delegates and referenced the fact that there are several educators in his family.

“When I say agricultural education is the noblest of professions and is important to me, I mean that,” said Case.  “If it’s good enough for my family, it’s good enough for you.”

Case wrapped up his onstage comments by assuring FFA members that they are in good hands.  “I believe in you,” he said, “and I shall never forget you.”

Fastline just completed the 2010 National Sales meeting which was held in Louisville Kentucky. We had all of our sales associates and management attend the 3 day event that started with a charity auction for the United Way. The next 2 days were consumed with meetings, updates, reviews and plans for 2011. The highlight of the meeting was a presentation by Dr. David Downey, Purdue University. He talked about changes in the agriculture industry and the impact those changes were having and are going to have on equipment dealers. Dr. Downey also spoke to members of the Fastline Dealer Advisory Council earlier this year on the same topic. His information was very relevant and valuable for both audiences.

These types of meetings are ongoing education and development for our sales associates to assist them in being even more successful as they meet the diverse needs of our customers.
